Garnacha Tintorera 2023 is a velvety wine with a medium-to-full body and a spiced Mediterranean character. It displays aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, black pepper, and sweet tobacco, with hints of vanilla from oak aging, alongside ripe dried fruits such as plums. Soft tannins support a long, flavorful finish. The natural spiciness of the Garnacha makes it an excellent pairing for spiced dishes and fresh herbs, including grilled meats, vegetables, and a wide range of ethnic cuisines.
The Garnacha Tintorera is planted in the Meirav vineyard on the Gilboa mountain range, on the northern slope of Mount Malkishua—an area where ancient winepresses have been discovered, attesting to winemaking in antiquity. This unique vineyard rises to approximately 400 meters above sea level and is planted on well-drained terra rossa soil, allowing for uniform and rapid fruit ripening. The relatively dry climate and strong winds, combined with meticulous pruning and proper canopy aeration, contribute to fruit of exceptional quality in this region.
The Garnacha grapes were harvested at the end of August. Following gentle sorting at the winery, a semi-carbonic alcoholic fermentation took place for five days. The wine was then pressed and completed fermentation without skins for an additional three days. After alcoholic fermentation and a short natural settling period, the wine was transferred to maturation in new and seasoned French and American oak barrels for 10 months. Upon completion, the final blend was assembled from the various barrels, and the wine was bottled with minimal filtration and fining.
